Лучшая металл группа последних 30 лет, признана журналом «Kerrang» в 2011.Стиль музыки хэви-металл, трэш-метал, хард-рок образована 15 октября 1981 года в Лос- Анджелес. Самое первое выступление было 14 марта 1982 года. Что интересно на следующем выступлении никого не заинтересовали их песни, зал был пуст. Изначально группа состояла из четырех человек, в поездке на очередной концерт погиб Клиф Бертон 1986 году. Ему нашли замену, в память о погибшем участнике группы была написана песня «To live is to Die».
Интересный момент из истории группы, концертный тур в поддержку альбома “Black Album” длился около 3-х лет. Всего в истории группы семь наград Grammy.Летом 1991 году, когда должен был выйти альбом “ The Black Album” магазины специально открывались в 12 часов ночи и 1 мин. Чтоб быть первыми кто продает новинку этой супер известной и всеми любимой группы.
Самое маленькое количество зрителей знаменитая группа увидела в Киеве в 1999 году, на концерте вместо переполненного стадиона было несколько сотен человек. Металлика единственная всемирно популярнейшая группа, которая выступала на всех континентах Земли, включая Антарктиду, причём потратив на это один год.
